Design System
CivicTheme is a true design system(Opens in a new tab/window) based on atomic design principles and made up of a set of standards, reusable components and patterns. The design system consists of a Visual Pattern Library (Figma(Opens in a new tab/window)) and Technical Component Library (Storybook). We have already designed components for informational system patterns and are currently working on intranet site patterns. Both transactional system and data visualisation patterns are on our long-term roadmap.
Theme Implementations
CivicTheme theme implementations allow for the visual and functional components of the design system to be leveraged within different technical frameworks and content management systems. By having implementations across many popular platforms, organisations can maintain a consistent brand across their web properties. Some implementations have already been developed such as Drupal(Opens in a new tab/window) and GovCMS(Opens in a new tab/window) while others are on our product roadmap.
Compliance and Standards
CivicTheme is committed to adopting recognised web standards and compliance guidelines including accessibility, user research, security, content schemas, search engine optimisation, and internationalisation. Some of these standards, such as WCAG 2.1 AA compliance(Opens in a new tab/window), have already been implemented, while others are on our roadmap and targeted for future releases.
